Roaring Women, Canada's premier networking group for business women, turns 3 today. Founded in Hamilton, Ontario by Mandie Crawford in 2004, Roaring Women is now open in 12 locations with over 350 members across the country. The company also now has a U.S. presence in Seattle, WA which introduced meetings in January of this year. Plans for 5 more locations are currently in the works and franchises are available.
"Roaring Women tells the stories of business women who dare to do things differently", says Crawford, a former columnist who has interviewed more than 400 business women who have left the corporate rat race. "Women are coming to us to create success on their own terms. Universal laws say that there is enough business for everyone. At Roaring Women, you can share your ideas,form public alliances, learn a little, and get or give support."
Each meeting is different. There is a gourmet meal, and business women and entrepreneurs have a chance to market themselves, of course, but most members agree there's much more to it. "This is the group I was looking for. It's
women helping women, not competitive, and not how many business cards you have at the end of the day," says Cheryl McCabe, owner of Candy Covers and now a Regional Director for Roaring Women. "I can email any woman on the website
and she will help me out. It doesn't matter if they are on the east coast or west coast, we can all connect online or by telephone."
Roaring Women also offers a complete online business profile, interactive online business training and now also runs a weekly internet radio show for entrepreneurs.
"We all know by now that female entrepreneurial activity in North America is thriving", adds Crawford. "Roaring Women redefines networking in business. Women read about the successes of our members and they too want to join the ranks of women who refuse to sacrifice their lives for business. They are creating business around their lives. Together, they are daring to succeed and making it happen."
